Eczema Treatment

Ayurvedic care for itchy, dry and inflamed skin - treating the triggers as well as the rash

Itchy, Inflamed Skin (Vicharchika)

What Is Eczema?

Eczema (dermatitis) makes the skin dry, red or darkened, very itchy and sometimes cracked or oozing. It often comes and goes, and scratching makes it worse. It can affect people of any age.

In Ayurveda, eczema is described as Vicharchika, a type of skin disorder linked to an imbalance of Kapha and Pitta with impure blood. Our doctors treat the skin and also help you find and avoid what triggers your eczema.

Common Triggers

What Makes Eczema Worse?

01

Soaps & Detergents

Harsh soaps, detergents and cleaning products strip the skin of its natural oils.

02

Allergens

Dust mites, pollen, pet dander and some foods can trigger flare-ups.

03

Weather

Very dry, cold or hot and humid weather can irritate the skin.

04

Sweat & Friction

Sweating and rough or synthetic clothes can worsen itching.

05

Stress

Stress often leads to flare-ups and more scratching.

06

Scratching

Scratching damages the skin and can lead to infection.

Our Ayurvedic Approach

Treatment is planned according to the type of eczema, how long you have had it and your general health. It may include:

  • Internal medicines: Ayurvedic herbs that support blood purification and reduce itching
  • External care: medicated oils, ghee or herbal pastes to soothe and protect the skin
  • Panchakarma: cleansing therapies for long-standing or recurring eczema, when suitable
  • Trigger control: identifying and avoiding soaps, foods and allergens that worsen your skin
  • Diet & skincare: a suitable diet and a gentle daily skincare routine

If the skin becomes very painful, swollen, crusted with yellow fluid or you have fever, please see a doctor promptly as it may be infected.

Medicines and therapies are prescribed only after a consultation. Please do not start any herb or medicine on your own.
