Ayurvedic care to calm flare-ups, reduce scaling and itching, and keep psoriasis under control

Scaly Skin Patches

What Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a long-term skin condition in which skin cells build up too quickly, forming thick, red or dark patches covered with silvery scales. The patches are often itchy and commonly appear on the scalp, elbows, knees and lower back. It tends to come and go in flare-ups.

Psoriasis is not contagious. In Ayurveda, it is related to Kushtha (skin disorders such as Ek Kushtha and Kitibha), caused by an imbalance of Vata and Kapha with impure blood. Treatment focuses on cleansing the body and keeping flare-ups under control.

Our Ayurvedic Approach

Psoriasis is a chronic condition, so the goal is to control symptoms and reduce flare-ups over the long term. Your plan may include:

  • Shodhana (Panchakarma): cleansing therapies such as Vamana or Virechana, when suitable for you
  • Internal medicines: Ayurvedic herbs and medicated ghee to support skin and blood purification
  • External care: medicated oils and applications to soften scales and soothe itching
  • Diet: a light, easily digestible diet and avoiding foods that trigger your flare-ups
  • Stress care: routine, sleep and, where useful, therapies such as Shirodhara

Improvement is gradual. Regular follow-ups help the doctor adjust your treatment as your skin responds.

Medicines and therapies are prescribed only after a consultation. Please do not start any herb or medicine on your own.
